The big game day is almost here. Regardless of whether your team is still alive, I’m guessing you have a rooting interest in the food! We all love celebrating with food and this 5-ingredient hot bean dip is perfect when you want a delicious indulgent appetizer. It’s an easy game day recipe and works great for a hungry crowd. It’s is a popular choice along with our easy taco dip and our spinach artichoke dip.

hot bean dip - only 5 ingredients

Can you tell I focus on the food side of the Super Bowl (or other big sporting events)?  That and the commercials.  Although, I must say, the commercials have seriously gone down hill since social media has taken over.  Here’s hoping this year there a few good ones.

If you love sour cream and cheese, then you’ll love this hot bean dip recipe.  It has only 5 ingredients; sour cream, cheese, black beans, refried beans, and taco sauce. Super simple!  Fortunately, we usually have all the ingredients on hand in the pantry and fridge.  Plus it takes only minutes to layer in the pan.  25-30 minutes in the oven and it’s done!

We like to use our own homemade taco sauce, but any kind should work and you also could use salsa instead if you prefer that or if that’s what you happen to have on hand.  If you’re looking for a vegetarian appetizer that’s also a crowd pleaser, this is your dip (just make sure you use vegetarian refried beans).  Even my kids are fans of this dip.

This is perfect for serving if you are hosting, but not the easiest to bring to someone else’s party.  Keeping it hot and not spilling all over would be difficult!  So, if you are looking for an easy, portable dip try this skinny taco dip from Skinnytaste.

We always use black beans and refried beans in our hot bean dip, however, feel free to just use refried beans.  Serve with your favorite chips!  I think it would also be perfect on top of tacos or in a tortilla!

We are not Super Bowl fans, but we would never pass up the opportunity to indulge in a great dip…not matter the occasion. This sound party perfect….we would love this watching a movie on a Saturday night.

This looks amazing!! Hubby loves beans and salsa, I bet he’ll eat it even though it has sour cream which he doesn’t like. I just won’t tell him!

It’s not really noticeable as sour cream in this! And if he doesn’t like it, more for you!
