Easy Cinnamon Chip Scone Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup cinnamon chips (We love King Arthur Flour Cinnamon Chips)
  • 1 egg , separated
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar in a bowl.
  3. Cut in butter with a pastry blender.
  4. Stir in cinnamon chips.
  5. Mix egg yolk, buttermilk, and vanilla in a pyrex measuring cup.
  6. Add to dry ingredients.
  7. Stir until just combined.
  8. Scrape out onto floured surface.
  9. Knead 6-8 times.
  10. Divide dough in half.
  11. Form 6 inch circle with dough and cut each circle into 6 triangles.
  12. Place on baking sheet (not greased).
  13. (Optional) We usually skip this step, but you can brush the tops of your scones with an egg wash if you wan to give them some extra color.
  14. Cook for 15-18 minutes at 375 degrees. (rotate 180 degrees at halfway point)
  15. Cool on a wire rack.
